Vito’s opened for business in October 1992. Vito’s started out selling the best “New York Style” thin crust pizza and pizza slices, and a small selection of cold and hot sandwiches including everybody’s favorite, the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich. With no more space than about twenty seats, lunch lines stretched outside Vito’s all the way to what is now Food Maxx.

In 1993 and 1994 The Argus, Oakland Tribune and the Alameda Times Star reviewed Vito’s and we were rated as a 3 star restaurant, also in 1994 the San Jose Mercury News rated Vito’s as a 2 ½ star restaurant.

By 1996, word of the mouth from hundreds of Vito's loyal diners meant that Vito's had to expand. This is when Vito's expanded, adding a cozy Mediterranean style dinning room to accommodate more of Vito's loyal diners who could find no other restaurant and pizzeria in the bay area which served great authentic Italian pasta dishes, New York Style pizza and sandwiches.

Also in 1996, Vito's menu expanded from a small menu to a full scale restaurant menu including selections of various pasta dishes, calzones, desert and appetizers.

In 2003, Vito’s started a new concept of introducing “Weekly Specials” to give the regular customers an opportunity to sample something new. Vito’s also introduced its “Mini Pizza”, an 8 inch pizza which quickly became a very popular choice.

In January 2004, the restaurant’s name was changed from “Vito’s New York Style Pizza & Italian Restaurant” to the present name of “Vito’s Ristorante & Pizzeria”.

Vito's is a warm and welcoming dinning place and very much a family oriented restaurant. We know most of our frequent customers by their first name and know what they order regularly. Customers are greeted by their name as they walk in, and Vito's cook announces customer's orders before they order! Our customers love the way we operate and they appreciate our quality of service, quality meals, great service and reasonable prices.

Another great reason why our customers love Vito's is the fact that at Vito's we give customers exactly what they like. Unlike chain restaurants, our customers mix and match toppings, split a pizza into halves, each with different toppings.

Vito’s has relied on customer’s word of mouth which has been our only means of advertising except for a few small ads in the Tri-City Voice, LocalPad and a couple of dinning rewards programs. Many of our neighboring businesses, including hotels such as the Hilton, Towneplace Suites, Courtyard and Hawthorn Suites send their guests to Vito’s when they’re asked about where to find a good restaurant.

For years, Airline pilots and flight attendants, mostly from the east coast, made Vito’s their stomping grounds because as they said it “When we come to Vito’s it’s like we never left home!”. Many of these pilots and flight attendants have told us some great stories of how they were told by their friends and co-workers in Boston, Philadelphia, New York and other cities in the east cost and mid west, to go to Vito's for the best Italian cuisine and great New York pizza and sandwiches.

Vito's maintain a reasonable selection of both Italian and California wines. Our dessert menu is small but delicious. We offer our own home-made Tiramisu and Cannoli, we also have Cheese cake, Chocolate cake and Italian Ice Cream.

Vito's offers six and eight serving size catering trays for weddings, wedding rehearsals, family reunions, birthday parties, club and association anniversaries, as well as business meetings and functions of many of local businesses in the Newark, Fremont and Union City area. Last year, Vito’s proudly served a several of well known stars of the World Wrestling Federation such as Rob Van Dam, Ivory and Randy Orton, Jason Styles, Wild Storm and their guests in an after wrestling match show dinner, held specially for them at Vito’s.

At Vito's, we will continue to provide the best customer service, quality food at reasonable prices to our customers. We are proud of providing a different, personal way of dining which makes our customers return for more. We appreciate our customers' loyalty since the first day Vito's opened in 1992 and we appreciate their help in spreading the word about Vito's. We welcome new customers daily, customers who've been referred to us by their friends, neighbors, colleagues or family.

Our goal is to strengthen our relationships with businesses in the Newark-Fremont area, as well as establish new relationships. We plan to expand our catering service to weddings, company meetings and functions, family reunions, graduation and birthday parties and other functions. We also plan to make the restaurant facility available for exclusive use for business and organizational functions.
